Celebrate International Women’s Day at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex! Starting on International Women’s Day and continuing through Women’s History Month, hear from women working toward advancing space technology.
Presentations will begin at 1 PM and 3 PM inside Journey To Mars.

Riley Havel

Planetary Science Throughout the Solar System
Riley is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. At Brown, Riley studies meteorites in the lab to understand the early evolution of our Solar System.
Riley graduated from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2022 with a B.Sc. in Physics and a minor in Geosciences. While at UCF, she conducted experimental astrochemistry research on campus, origins of life research as a summer intern in the Astrobiology Analytical Lab at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (2020), and the evolution of ice sheets as an intern in the Geosystem Modeling Group at the University of Bremen (2021).
During her last year at UCF, she worked as a Simulant Engineer and Geotechnical Researcher at the Exolith Lab making lunar, martian, and asteroidal regolith simulants. Riley was selected as an Astronaut Scholar in 2021.
