Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of Skylab SL-4 with a screening of the film “Searching for Skylab” on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 3:00 PM in IMAX® theater.

The screening will begin with a panel consisting of astronauts Jack Lousma and Rusty Schweickart. The director of “Searching for Skylab,” Dwight Steven-Boniecki, will moderate. Seating is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis.

Film Summary:

Within minutes of its launch, the unmanned rocket carrying Skylab, the first American space station, came within moments of total catastrophe that arguably could have ended NASA’s entire space program. With an admirable display of innovation, and in only 11 days, NASA’s workforce created and deployed the solution that became critical in saving the space station from certain disaster. Racing against time, astronauts performed the first major repair in space, freeing the jammed solar panel.

The film lasts approximately 1 hour and 38 minutes. The screening and panel are included with admission.
