In celebration of Apollo 13’s return home 50 years ago, hear from astronaut Jim Lovell as he remembers their slim chance of survival after the explosion in a service module oxygen tank. The incredible work of the astronauts and Mission Control crew caused Apollo 13 to forever be known as a “successful failure.” While it may not have fulfilled its mission to land on the Moon, it did safely return the crew and gave them unmatched experience in rescue procedures.
