Communication Access

  • Closed Captioning: IMAX® “Rear Window” Reflective Captioning is available for IMAX® movies. Guests may use a reflective panel to view captioning from an LED (light emitting diode) display. Please ask your IMAX® usher for a reflector to use this service.
  • Tour Sites: Closed Captioning is available for pre-shows and presentations at the tour sites. Please ask a crew member to activate the closed captioning prior to the start of each presentation.
  • Bus Tour: Captioning is available in English on our DVD video monitors.
  • American Sign Language Interpreters: Interpreters are available with a two-week advance notice. To ensure this service is available on the day of your visit, four-week advance reservations are recommended. Guests may call our interpreters at (321) 449-4218 (voice),  (321) 454-4198 (TTY), or via FRS at 1-800-955-8770 (voice) and 1-800-955-8771 (TTY). For additional information about this service, please e-mail DMorriso@dncinc.com.
  • Assistive Listening Devices (ALD): ALDs may be picked up at the Information Counter to use for the majority of our films at the Visitor Complex and at the tour sites. A form of identification will be retained for this service. ALDs for the IMAX® Theaters may be picked up from the IMAX® ushers.
  • Shuttle Launch Experience: Guests using standard wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs and electronic convenience vehicles can enter the Shuttle Launch Experience through the gantry entrance with their party. The pre-launch briefing features a reflective captioning panel located at the back of the theater to aid guests with hearing impairments.
For the launch simulation, each crew cabin is equipped with an ADA seat with a pivoting grab bar that allows guests to transfer directly from a wheelchair to the seat. The seat also has a five point harness attachment, as well as an extended seat pan. If a guest is not able to transfer to the seat or decides not to take part in the simulation, a Launch Observation Room is located at the exit of the crew cabin. Outfitted with a flat screen television and three cabin viewing televisions, guests can experience the launch without the simulation, as well as watch their party's experience. The party is able to meet immediately after the launch simulation to exit together.
  • Audio Guides: Complementary audio guides featuring an audio amplification system are available to guests who are hearing impaired or have low vision. Audio guides are currently available in English and six other languages.
